Assistant Shop Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at Blue Cross in Christchurch. As a key member of our shop management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our shop, including managing donations, displays, and stock, as well as coordinating with our volunteers and staff to ensure the smooth running of the shop.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the shop's day-to-day operations, including generating donations, managing displays and merchandising, and coordinating stock deliveries and collections.
- Recruit, train, motivate, and manage a team of volunteers to ensure they are aligned with our cause and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their roles.
- Work closely with the Shop Manager to shape the shop's direction at a local level, fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for both customers and volunteers.
- Manage the shop's finances, including cash handling and reconciliation, and ensure that all financial transactions are accurate and up-to-date.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve shop performance, including sales, customer service, and volunteer engagement.
- Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably in a management or supervisory role.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to provide a positive and welcoming experience for customers.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team of volunteers, with a focus on developing their skills and knowledge.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and customers.
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and occasional lone shifts, and to adapt to changing business needs.
