We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Support Coach to join our team at The Big Life Group. As a Peer Support Coach, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals experiencing common mental health conditions, using your own life experience of mental distress and recovery as a template.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver a range of peer coaching one-to-one and group interventions to support individuals in achieving their recovery goals.
- Establish trusting and supportive relationships with participants, assisting them to overcome fears and barriers to improving their mental health.
- Model a Personal Recovery approach to mental health, demonstrating personal responsibility, self-care, and hopefulness for the future.
- Assist participants to access a range of other services and community activities to support their mental wellbeing.
- Collate and analyse performance data as necessary, ensuring quality standards are met and audits are passed.
- Develop effective relationships with external organisations and agencies, promoting the service and peer support approach as appropriate.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of participants' progress.
We are looking for an individual with:
- A high level of self-awareness, with the ability to reflect on their own practice and share personal experience in a responsible and boundaried way.
- Ability to assist participants to define and achieve their goals and aspirations.
- Ability to use a database to keep accurate records.
- Ability to manage a varied and complex workload effectively.
- Experience of working with people facing a range of barriers and social issues.
- Experience of working with individuals and groups in different settings to help them achieve their goals.
- Experience of working with a range of agencies and organisations to develop effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of mental health issues and conditions, and of the challenges and issues that are likely to affect those who experience such difficulties.
- Understanding of Peer Support and Personal Recovery approaches.
We offer a comprehensive staff wellbeing package, including Health Coaching Training Level 1 & 2 accredited by the Personalised Care Institute (PCI), and a 40-hour Peer Support training experience delivered and accredited by ImROC.
