Family Support Practitioner Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Family Support Practitioner to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.

About the Role

As a Family Support Practitioner, you will work closely with families, young people, and other professionals to assess and manage risk where there is possible or actual harm to children. You will undertake statutory assessments of cases meeting the threshold for social care intervention, including child protection investigations.

You will have the opportunity to develop and implement effective plans to safeguard children, using your expertise and knowledge to help us maintain and improve our Ofsted-rated 'Good' service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing cases to identify potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective plans to safeguard children
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on child protection matters
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Social Work or a related field
  • Qualified Social Worker registration with the relevant regulatory body
  • Proven experience in child protection and assessment work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
