About the Role

Polaris Community is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team. As a Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Domestic Duties: Maintain a homely environment by completing key domestic duties on a day-to-day basis.
  • Activity Planning: Encourage the development of individual interests and attitudes by planning, organising and participating in activities.
  • Welfare and Safety: Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people.
  • Behaviour Management: Manage behaviour positively and assertively by working in line with specified care and risk management plans.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Consult with young people to promote the development of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Networking: Motivate and assist young people in developing and sustaining positive networks with adults and peer groups, including families.
  • Package Development: Participate in the development, implementation and review of packages of care through team meetings and supervisions.
  • Advocacy: Attend, and where necessary advocate for the Young Person, in child care reviews.
Requirements
  • Commitment: Understanding and commitment to the role, which is 24/7, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Experience: Experience of supporting young people who may be vulnerable is essential.
  • Initiative: Be capable of working on their own initiative to a high level of accuracy, maintain clear, neat records.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Have good inter-personal skills, and be a positive team player.
  • Computer Skills: Computer experience to an intermediate level.
  • Communication: The ability to complete daily records to meet statutory and policy requirements.
  • Empathy: Empathetic nature.
  • Communication: Good oral and written communication skills in a variety of contexts.
  • Engagement: The ability to engage, motivate and encourage young people.
