We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Rights Sustainability Manager to join our team at New Look. This is a full-time role that will play a critical part in driving our social sustainability strategy and ensuring that our operations align with our values and goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement our social sustainability strategy, working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that our operations are aligned with global human rights standards.
- Define and help to develop country strategy programmes, including monitoring current country issues and trends and focusing on factory remediation, visits, and audit analysis.
- Manage relationships and global audit programmes with in-country partners, ensuring that our supply chain is transparent and compliant with ethical standards.
- Conduct reviews of salient risks, updating strategy priorities at least annually and proposing and delivering projects based on identified risks.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of social sustainability programmes and initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure adherence to ethical standards and social compliance requirements.
- Develop strong working relationships with ethical trade/sustainability managers in key suppliers to drive proactive engagement and improvement of the supply base.
- Oversee supplier setups and factory registrations, coordinating with the Sustainability Coordinator.
- Implement efficient systems to monitor key suppliers' performance monthly, analyse results, and actively plan to improve.
- Review and maintain supplier manuals, sharing regular updates on processes and policies.
- Represent New Look's interests at industry initiatives and manage associated projects, while managing relationships with campaign groups, NGOs, and other key external stakeholders.
- Lead the Modern Slavery Working Group, including planning, preparation, and implementation alongside the Head of Sustainability.
- Oversee and coordinate data systems and team reporting requirements, including the annual Sustainability Report, Modern Slavery Statement, Fashion Transparency Index, and Higg BRM.
- Develop and manage effective training and communication (website, newsletters, presentations) for our BMD and Technical teams in our Social Sustainability agenda in line with our strategy.
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing New Look in engagements with external partnerships.
- Raise POs and maintain invoices for memberships and projects.
- Manage the monitoring and refreshing of the monthly factory list and public factory data lists on a biannual basis.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, including legislative and regulatory changes, and present issues and solutions to wider teams to ensure compliance.
- Experience in a commercial environment with a working knowledge of human rights, sustainability, the SDGs, and associated international standards.
- Strong knowledge of global human rights issues.
- Previous experience in a social sustainability role, ideally within a fashion retailer or sustainability consultancy or NGO.
- Preferred experience of conducting or shadowing social audits across different methodologies.
- Ability to comprehend complex information and determine a decision.
