Job Title: Senior Iran Research and Advocacy Specialist

Division: Middle East and North Africa

Human Rights Watch seeks a dedicated researcher to document and analyze human rights abuses in Iran and advocate for their end and redress.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a research agenda focusing on human rights in Iran;
  2. Monitor and document human rights abuses by collecting and analyzing information;
  3. Write and publicize reports, briefing papers, and submissions based on research findings;
  4. Respond to queries from the media, public, and colleagues;
  5. Work flexible hours and travel as required;
  6. Cover research issues on other MENA countries as needed;

Qualifications:

Advanced degree in international relations, journalism, law, or social sciences, or equivalent work experience.

Required Skills:

  1. Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate human rights developments;
  2. Ability to advise on research and advocacy strategies;
  3. Knowledge of international human rights law;
  4. Excellent communication skills in English and Farsi;
  5. Strategic thinking about media and policy environments;
