Job Title: Research Specialist - Iran Human Rights

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Research Specialist to join our team in investigating and exposing human rights abuses in Iran. As a key member of our Middle East and North Africa Division, you will play a critical role in advancing human rights in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct in-depth research on human rights abuses in Iran, including collecting and analyzing data, interviewing sources, and identifying trends.
  2. Produce high-quality reports, briefings, and other written products that inform and engage audiences on human rights issues.
  3. Work collaboratively with colleagues across teams to develop effective advocacy strategies and campaigns.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with local and regional human rights organizations to enhance our impact.
  5. Represent Human Rights Watch at international forums and meetings to advance our mission.
  6. Develop and deliver training programs for HRW staff and partners on research methods, reporting techniques, and advocacy strategies.
  7. Stay up-to-date with global human rights developments and adapt research approaches accordingly.

Qualifications:

Education: A graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., international relations, law, journalism) is essential.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns and connections.
  2. Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  3. Proven expertise in human rights research, documentation, and analysis.
  4. Familiarity with the Middle East and North Africa region, including languages and cultures.

Estimated Salary: $65,000-$85,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
