Job Summary

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Strategic Housing Service as a Housing Policy Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing affordable housing policies to guide our direct housing delivery programme and residential planning permissions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assess housing need and demand to inform policy development
  • Develop and implement affordable housing policies to guide our direct housing delivery programme and residential planning permissions
  • Research and develop innovative mechanisms to deliver homes of the right type, quality, and cost in the right locations
  • Liaise extensively with partners from Housing Associations, developers, Government Departments, estate agents, and households seeking affordable housing
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement strategies to expand the housing offer in the borough in a difficult financial climate, while reducing our carbon footprint

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively to stakeholders
  • Education to at least degree level, preferably in a relevant field such as housing, planning, or regeneration
