About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Expert to join our Head Office team at LeMieux, a fast-growing global equestrian company.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance and safety of our products, primarily toys and children's wear, while also working across equine and rider categories.

Your primary objective will be to guarantee that our products meet regulatory standards, are safe for use by our customers, and comply with UK and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Monitor and interpret relevant regulations and standards for all product areas, with particular attention to toys and children's wear.
    • Ensure all products comply with applicable safety standards, including but not limited to ASTM, EN71, CPSIA, and REACH.
    • Keep abreast of changes in compliance regulations and update internal policies and stakeholders accordingly.
  • Product Testing & Certification:
    • Coordinate product testing with third-party laboratories.
    • Work with the Technologist and supplier to understand the LeMieux testing requirements and action accordingly.
    • Along with the relevant technologist, review test reports and certifications to ensure compliance, with specific attention to labelling review and legal requirements.
    • Maintain a database of compliance documents for all products.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Evaluate and approve suppliers based on their ability to meet compliance standards.
    • Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Work with suppliers to resolve compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Internal Training and Communication:
    • Work closely with various functions to inform and deliver training programs for staff on compliance requirements and best practices.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for compliance-related inquiries.
    • Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain detailed records of compliance documentation, including test reports, conformity certificates, and inspection records.
    • Enable a straightforward export process by liaising with the logistics team to ensure that they have all the relevant documentation in a timely manner.
    • Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
    • Providing departments with legal briefs to ensure accurate labelling across product and packaging based on regulation requirements.
    Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A proven background in Product Compliance with a thorough understanding of toy and children's wear regulations.
  • Previous experience with international compliance standards and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of product safety standards and regulatory requirements and local/international compliance laws.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work across several brand functions.
  • Self-starting with ability to use own initiative as well as working collaboratively across multiple business functions.

At LeMieux, we offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits, including:
