About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cable Project Engineer to join our team at SSE, a leading energy company in the UK. As a Cable Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of our high-voltage transmission network.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Life Cycle Management

Involved in the full project life cycle, from project definition to project completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Cable Engineering Support

Providing cable engineering support across multiple projects, including producing or reviewing outline cable system designs, assessing technology options, and developing technical scopes and specifications.

Technical Expertise

Developing and maintaining technical expertise in transmission voltage level underground cable systems development, design, and specification, as well as an understanding of the legislation and implications for the management of the transmission network.

Collaboration and Communication

Working closely with site teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure quality of installations and cable commissioning activities, and providing technical support to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  1. Technical Skills

Demonstrable technical skills in transmission voltage level underground cable systems development, design, and specification, or demonstrable transferable skills/experience.

Education and Qualifications

Preferably hold or, with past work experience, be working towards a degree or masters in an appropriate engineering discipline.

Business Acumen

Understanding of the energy industry and the role of transmission networks in delivering secure and reliable electricity supplies.
