About the Role:

Torfaen County Borough Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Community Capacity Builder. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in our communities and contribute to the Council's vision of building resilient and thriving communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community development strategies to enhance community capacity and resilience.
  • Work closely with local community groups, stakeholders, and members of the public to identify and maximize community assets.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with community partners to deliver collaborative initiatives and maximize resources.
  • Develop and implement place-based networks to enable stakeholders to share intelligence and develop collaborative initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of community projects and initiatives that promote community engagement and participation.
  • Provide support and guidance to community groups and individuals to enable them to access resources and services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community development initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Further/higher educational qualification relevant to the post or 2 years comparable demonstrable work experience.
  • Proven experience of working with communities in a community development role.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office functions.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience at successfully delivering community projects with residents and community groups including the reporting on achieving targets.
  • Experience of engaging and increasing community participation and the development and strengthening of community hubs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyse and evaluate information and to make effective decisions and priorities tasks calmly under pressure.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain records and record information. Analyse data and produce monitoring reports to present Senior Management.
  • Willingness to work evenings and on the weekends.
  • Ability to travel around the borough in a timely manner.
