Job Overview


At Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking a dedicated professional to lead our Global Majority Practice Development efforts. This role is critical in providing corporate professional leadership and support to the Global Majority NMAHP workforce, while developing clinical practice in line with the Trust's Nursing & Midwifery & AHP Strategy.


Main Duties



  • Facilitate the development of patient-centered and innovative practice across the Trust, leveraging the expertise of the Global Majority NMAHP workforce.
  • Lead specific professional practice development projects as identified by the Associate Chief Nurse for Workforce & Education.
  • Collaborate with divisions and corporate teams to enhance staff and patient experience, and quality of care.
  • Ensure the delivery of objectives outlined in the Nursing, Midwifery AHP strategy within the Professional Education Team.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement competency-based frameworks for the Global Majority NMAHP workforce.
  • Support nurses in addressing concerns about practice or performance, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities



  • Act in accordance with the Codes of Professional Conduct, specific to professional registration.
  • Work closely with the Learning & Development department to ensure mandatory training and other training provisions meet the identified professional development needs of our Global Majority NMAHP workforce.
  • Develop and maintain systems to meet the requirements of NMC standards for practice learning.
  • Act as an expert resource to the Global Majority NMAHP workforce, Learning Environment Managers, Ward Leaders, Matrons, and Directors.
  • Represent the Associate Chief Nurse for Workforce & Education and the Deputy Chief Nurse at professional meetings in their absence.
  • Contribute to the development of business plans to develop services and the workforce.
  • Work with divisions and service leads across the Trust to identify and address opportunities for shared learning resulting from incidents and complaints.
  • Maintain effective communication links with Matrons, Learning Environment Managers, Ward Leaders, Specialist Nurses, Clinicians, and other divisional and department teams.
  • Ensure the Professional Education Team has a live website that is resourced and available for all staff to access.
  • Identify and develop policies and procedures to support professional practice development as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Nursing, Midwifery, and AHP strategy.
  • Undertake risk assessments and develop action plans to mitigate risk in relation to professional practice issues as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Recruitment and Retention Pipeline for Nursing.

Qualifications


Essential Criteria



  • Professional qualification to a minimum of degree level with up-to-date professional registration.
  • Specialist knowledge of Education in Practice at Masters level or willingness to undertake.
  • Completed Practice Assessor training/preparation.

Desirable Criteria



  • Formal coaching qualification.
  • Evidence of having completed formal leadership training.

Experience


Essential Criteria



  • Broad range of post-qualifying clinical experience.
  • Extensive experience of teaching, supervising, and assessing healthcare students in the practice setting.
  • Experience of having worked across professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Practical experience of facilitating change.
  • Experience of staff management/supervision.
  • Experience of developing and implementing new systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of preceptorship process.

  • Knowledge of different methods/styles for teaching and learning.
  • Detailed understanding of a range of regulatory body requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and framework.
  • Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Understanding of quality improvement methodology and outcome measurement.
