The Ministry of Defence is a diverse organisation, employing over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within this, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants at various locations. Our workforce encompasses numerous functions and professions, delivering key outputs for the Army.

This role is located within the Army Aviation Centre (AACen) at Middle Wallop, responsible for the training pipeline and delivery of Aviation Training, both Aircrew and Ground crew, for the Army Air Corps (AAC). This position plays a crucial part in developing Aviation war-fighting capability.

The HEO Validation post sits within the Training Design Innovation and Validation (TDIV) team, providing training design functions for all AAC training conducted at Middle Wallop and promoting continuous improvement across all activities.

This role manages all validation, assessment, and assurance for courses delivered at the AACen, creating reports on training performance and diversity and inclusion issues to the chain of command. The post holder will collaborate with civilian and military staff in a professional environment, ideal for a high-reaching individual looking to expand and refine their skills.

This position requires a 37-hour workweek.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and maintain question banks and summative assessments.
  • Produce summative assessments through Virtual and E-Learning platforms.
  • Course validation.
  • Act as the focal point for the competence award process.
  • Liaise with HQ AAC Training Development Team (TDT), other schools, and external agencies on validation, assessment, and assurance matters.
  • Liaise with Course Design personnel.
  • Liaise with training delivery departments to ensure effective completion of the course assessment process via the course training plan.
  • Attend Training Working Groups, Symposia, and Exhibitions commensurate with role and determined by Senior Executive Officer Training Design Innovation and Validation.
  • Line management responsibilities for one EO Validation.
  • Other duties commensurate with grade and experience as directed by Line Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong engagement skills.
  • Clear communication and excellent organisational skills.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with uncertainty and change and take the initiative.
  • Proficient using MS Office, specifically MS Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Experience with using different IT systems and software is desirable.

In addition to a salary of £35,290, Ministry of Defence contributes £10,223 towards being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
