About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Nicholas Associates. As a key member of our precision engineering department, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading a team of engineers to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and distribute work across the team, working closely with the commercial manager to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Train and develop staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Attend team leader meetings to discuss project progress and team performance.
  • Manage new projects in partnership with the commercial and engineering team, ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the manufacturing and planning engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Build relationships with customers and suppliers to maintain a strong network and ensure seamless communication.
  • Organize and liaise with suppliers to source materials and equipment.
  • Calculate cost estimates and set up new Bill of Materials, sales orders, and production routings.
  • Lead engineering meetings to discuss project progress and team performance.
Requirements
  • Background in precision engineering - machining/fabrication.
  • Excellent inter-personal and presentation skills.
  • Competence in Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Project Management Experience.
  • Capable of working un-supervised and using own initiative.
  • Good eye for detail with a methodical approach to the task in hand.
  • Confident communicator.
  • Lean Manufacturing background.
