Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Nicholas Associates. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading a team of engineers to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and distribute work across the team, working closely with the commercial manager to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Train and develop staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Attend team leader meetings to discuss project progress and team performance.
  • Manage new projects in partnership with the commercial and engineering team, ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the manufacturing and planning engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Build relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Organize and liaise with suppliers to source materials and services.
  • Calculate cost estimates and set up new Bill of Materials, sales orders, and production routings.
  • Lead engineering meetings to discuss project progress and team performance.

Requirements

  • Background in precision engineering, machining, and fabrication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Competence in Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
  • Good eye for detail with a methodical approach to tasks.
  • Confident communicator.
  • Lean manufacturing background.
