**Store Manager Role**
As a Store Manager in Chester Rail, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring your team to deliver exceptional customer service, meet business objectives, and create a positive working environment that fosters growth and development. Our goal is to make our customers, colleagues, and partners proud to be associated with WHSmith, whether it's a daily commute or a holiday abroad.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Guiding and Engaging Your Team**: Lead your team to achieve excellent standards and results in line with the Trading plan.
- **Creating a Culture of Learning and Support**: Foster a culture that encourages learning, support, and recognition, identifying opportunities for personal skill development, product knowledge, and self-awareness to support colleagues in a welcoming environment.
- **Performance Management**: Play a key role in ensuring colleagues are supported, set clear and measurable targets, and are aware of their performance.
- **Local Knowledge and Community Involvement**: Work with Head Office to share your knowledge of the local environment, maximizing local opportunities and community involvement.
- **People and Succession Planning**: Develop and implement a robust people and succession plan, working with the Region to support people development and succession planning, including review and development plans for all colleagues.
- **Store Performance and Improvement**: Keep teams informed about store business performance and challenge areas for improvement.
- **Store Pride and Safety**: Create a sense of pride within the store, ensuring both colleagues and customer facilities are of a good standard, and that we operate safely and legally.
**Requirements**
- **Current Store Manager Experience**: Current Store Manager (or equivalent) in a fast-paced retail or similar environment, ideally with multi-site experience.
- **Leadership and Motivation**: Confident in energizing, influencing, and motivating store management and teams to deliver exceptional service and performance.
- **Organizational Skills**: Organized, proactive, and able to prioritize at pace in a fast-paced retail environment.
- **Employee Lifecycle Management**: Experience in managing the employee lifecycle from recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing performance reviews.
- **People Development**: Proven people development experience, focused on fostering a supportive, productive, efficient, and inclusive environment.
- **Stakeholder Management**: Strong stakeholder management experience, able to influence and communicate with your team, peers, head office colleagues, and senior stakeholders with gravitas and conviction.
