Consultant Community Paediatrician

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Community Paediatrician to join our team at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust. As a Medical Advisor for Adoption, you will play a crucial role in providing expert medical advice and support to children and families involved in the adoption process.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out health assessments for children going for adoption and provide written reports detailing their medical history and future implications.
- Meet with prospective adopters to share information and provide advice on adoption support plans.
- Attend adoption panels to review medical reports and provide expert advice.
- Provide training and education to prospective adopters on health issues related to looked-after children and the impact of trauma on development.
- Contribute to the child protection rota and attend weekly peer review clinical meetings as part of the senior child protection team.
- Work within the neurodevelopmental service, contributing to autism diagnostic assessments, neurodevelopmental clinics, and special school clinics.
Requirements
- GMC registration and MBBS or equivalent qualification.
- On the GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at time of interview or equivalent of CCT in Paediatrics or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) application awaiting approval.
- Level 4 Safeguarding training and Valid APLS and NLS.
- Experience in paediatrics, neurodisability, child protection, and working with looked-after children.
- Excellent clinical skills, teamworking skills, and written and oral communication skills.
