Leading Climate Expert

We are seeking a talented Senior Scientist to join our team at the Met Office, a world-renowned organisation dedicated to delivering weather and climate services that make a real difference to society.
As a Senior Scientist, you will be part of a collaborative team working on diverse projects that drive innovation and excellence in weather and climate science. Our work is critical to helping individuals, industries, and governments make informed decisions to stay safe and thrive.
The successful candidate will have a high level of learned and working knowledge in weather and/or climate science or other physical science/environmental/mathematical subjects, gained through worked experience or academic qualification. Excellent programming skills and experience, e.g. Python, Unix, and a strong track record of working on weather or climate science or its impacts on human and/or natural systems are essential.
This role offers a competitive salary of up to £57,639 annually, which includes:
- A base pay of £41,725
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
