Senior Scientist Role

We're seeking a Senior Scientist to join our UK Applied Science team. As a Senior Scientist, you'll play a key role in advancing our understanding of weather and climate science.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading research projects to develop and apply weather and climate science techniques.
  • Collaborating with the wider Met Office team and partners to understand customer and stakeholder needs.
  • Communicating complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
  • Representing the Met Office at national and international meetings and conferences.

Requirements:

  • High-level knowledge of weather and/or climate science or related physical science/environmental/mathematical subjects.
  • Excellent programming skills and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of working on weather or climate science, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead complex research projects.
