About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physicist to join our team at the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. As a member of our team, you will play a key role in the development and integration of the L0 Global Trigger as a large-scale system, along with the re-commissioning of the eFEX, ahead of High-Luminosity LHC data taking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and integrate the L0 Global Trigger as a large-scale system
  • Re-commission the eFEX ahead of High-Luminosity LHC data taking
  • Work closely with other group members and with engineers in the RAL Technology Department along with members of related detector teams within ATLAS and with the ATLAS Trigger and Data Acquisition community
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Physicist with a strong background in particle physics and a proven track record of working on large-scale projects. You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Physics or a related subject, or equivalent experience
  • Relevant post-graduate experience
  • Programming experience, preferably in C++ and Python
  • Ability to work in a distributed international team
  • Possessing good communication skills in individual discussions, presentations and written documentation
  • Self-motivated problem solver
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Experience handling and developing large-scale systems
  • Experience of real-time software development, preferably in Linux or Unix
  • Experience of integrating and using programmable hardware for modern real-time systems
