Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Clinical Support Professional to join our friendly practices at The Whalebridge Group.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, good attention to detail, and be able to communicate well.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support doctors by adding information to patient records using appropriate clinical coding.
  • Contact patients to obtain information, share information, and book appointments.
  • Action computer tasks appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with external organizations to obtain information.
  • Prepare and send referrals via the e-referral system.
  • Complete forms as much as possible for scrutiny and signature by doctors.
  • Generate letters and electronic messages on behalf of GPs.
  • Request pathology on the ICE system.
Clinical Tasks:
  • Dip a urine sample.
  • Take a blood pressure.
  • Do an ECG.
  • Take a blood sample.
Professional Development:

The Clinical Support Professional will complete training on all areas within the Health Education England General Practice Assistant Competency Framework.

To achieve this, they will:

  • Undertake training on various IT systems.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all admin processes within the practices.
  • Develop and maintain basic clinical skills.
  • Attend external training courses.
Person Specification:Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Have completed or working towards completing the GP Assistant framework.
  • Have completed a phlebotomy course.
  • Can demonstrate Maths and English at GCSE level.
Experience:

Essential:

  • Have worked in a health environment.
  • Have worked in a team.
  • Have worked with a clinical IT system.
  • Have used clinical coding.
Additional Criteria:

Essential:

  • Have a working knowledge of IT systems such as SystmOne and Microsoft Office products.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Have an understanding of the referral process.
  • Can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Have excellent inter-personal skills and are able to work in a team.
  • Is able to work autonomously and can prioritize their workload.
  • Has good time management and can meet deadlines.
  • Is flexible and can adapt quickly to changing situations.
Salary Estimate:

£25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
