Job Overview

The Division of Surgery – BHRUT NHS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to lead the fetal surveillance team. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for improving the effectiveness of fetal monitoring and intrapartum risk assessments. You will work closely with the Labour Ward Lead Obstetrician and Maternity Matrons to develop and implement a programme of education, training, and competency testing.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading on the implementation of the Saving Babies' Lives Care Bundle (SBLCBV2) to enhance the care provided by staff.
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to collaborate on learning opportunities and developments.
  • Developing and implementing a programme of education, training, and competency testing for fetal monitoring and intrapartum risk assessments.
  • Managing the Preterm-birth specialist midwife and overseeing the work required in relation to Element 5.
  • Escalating any fetal monitoring concerns and implementing, assessing, and monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of TEACH and TREAT.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Registration as a midwife.
  • Leadership qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Post-registration experience, including significant recent Labour Ward experience as Band 7.
