Research Scientist in Quantum Dot-on-Silicon Photonics

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant/Associate to join our team in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be working on QD-on-Silicon photonic circuits as part of the UK EPSRC QUDOS project. The role involves carrying out research on the development of QD-on-Silicon PICs, working with collaborators to develop QUDOS building blocks, and contributing to the creation of a new era in optical integration.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on QD-on-Silicon photonic circuits and contribute to the development of QUDOS building blocks.
- Work with collaborators to advance the QUDOS project and achieve its goals.
- Contribute to the creation of a new era in optical integration.
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement new technologies and techniques.
- PhD in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Skills in using photonic simulation software, such as Lumerical and device fabrication.
- Relevant experience in photonic integrated circuits in PhD/postdoc/job.
- Experience of photonic device design and testing, clean room, and optical communication link design and testing is an advantage.
- Good publishing track record and ability to work in a team and with external industry partners.
The University of Cambridge offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a salary range of £31,396 - £33,966 for Research Assistant and £36,024 - £44,263 for Research Associate. The appointment is fixed-term until 31 October 2026 in the first instance.
