Research Assistant/Associate in Quantum Dot-on-Silicon Photonics

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant/Associate to join our team in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on Quantum Dot-on-Silicon photonic circuits, as part of the UK EPSRC QUDOS project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on Quantum Dot-on-Silicon photonic circuits, including design, fabrication, and testing.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop QUDOS building blocks, including Si, SiN, and III-V QD-on-Si.
  • Develop a temperature-insensitive, low-reflectance, defect-free coupling interface between the III-V area and Si waveguides.
  • Work with photonic simulation software, such as Lumerical, and device fabrication techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of photonic integrated circuits and optical communication link design and testing.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in photonic integrated circuits, device design and testing, and clean room techniques.
  • Good publishing track record and ability to work in a team and with external industry partners.
