Clinical Coding Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Department at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Specialist Clinical Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of clinical coding data, which is essential for the trust's performance and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Abstract clinical data from patient records and translate it into diagnostic (ICD10) and procedure (OPCS) coding classifications.
- Work as part of a team to meet tight deadlines and ensure high-quality coding standards.
- Collaborate with clinicians in all specialties to ensure procedures and diagnoses are correct and align with national standards.
- Develop and maintain a good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) or extensive clinical coding experience in an acute setting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a busy environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to adapt to changes in working patterns.
