Financial Risk Management Specialist

As a Financial Risk Analyst I at ENGINEERINGUK, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of operational risk across our Life and Wealth businesses. You will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to key stakeholders, identifying and assessing risks, and developing and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including the Group Code of Conduct and embedding desired behaviours.
- Be personally accountable for identifying, assessing, managing, and reporting risks within your area of responsibility, including supporting formal risk management activities such as Risk & Control Self Assessments and timely closure of Assurance actions.
- Lead on operational risk engagement with the Business Area on all operational risk matters, bringing specialists in as required, including oversight of Business Area outsourcing partners.
- Represent Operational Risk at Business Area specific governance committees, risk forums, or team meetings, providing a risk business partnering approach.
- Lead on the oversight and guidance of Business Area implementation of Operational Risk Framework, including workshop facilitation, such as RCSA, Notifiable Events, Risk Appetite (Tolerances, Limits, and Triggers), and Scenarios.
- Develop and maintain a positive, respectful, and constructive relationship between the first line and Operational Risk, including oversight of risk culture embeddedness.
- Lead on the delivery of Business Area specific Operational Risk training.
- Lead, review, and challenge of Business Area led root cause analysis.
- Oversight and guidance of major Business Area specific change management programmes.
- Manage and support Senior Risk Analysts, ensuring appropriate deployment, development, and support.
- An experienced financial services professional with a strong background in Risk Management and control.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory framework for Non-Financial Risk Management and measurement within financial services.
- A good understanding of the risk environment facing Life Insurance and/or Wealth businesses and the confidence to challenge the first line in the identification and assessment of their key risks and controls.
- Strong presentation skills to senior level boards and committees, with the ability to explain and articulate risk management concepts in the context of Life Insurance and/or Wealth.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
- Significant risk management experience within the financial services industry.
- Experience working with Executive Level stakeholders and presenting to committees.
- Experience in operational risk oversight, including the embedding of an operational risk framework in the first line of defence.
