Fetal Monitoring Specialist Midwife

Job Summary
This is a challenging and rewarding clinical leadership role for a Midwife Fetal Monitoring Specialist at George Eliot Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical leadership in fetal monitoring, ensuring that all midwives and obstetricians providing antenatal care are competent in assessing fetal wellbeing.
Main Responsibilities
Ensure that all midwives and obstetricians providing antenatal care undertake the competency test in assessing fetal wellbeing.
Provide teaching and support for staff who need to repeat the competency test.
Lead weekly CTG workshops, maintaining attendance registers to ensure compliance for midwives and medical staff.
Disseminate learning which emerges from workshops.

Person Specification
Essential
Relevant experience as a Band 6 or Band 7 Midwife.
Audit and risk management experience.
Previous experience in managing/leading change in practice.
Proficient and broad understanding of CTG interpretation and multidisciplinary training and education.
Desirable
Previous experience in report writing.
Qualification and Professional Training
Essential
Registered Midwife - BSc or Degree in Midwifery.
ENB 997 or equivalent/mentorship qualification evidence of continuing professional development.
Fetal monitoring masterclass attendance (physiological CTG interpretation).
Desirable
Masters level study or willing to work towards.
Skills and Abilities
Essential
Proven leadership skills.
Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
Recent labour ward experience.
Able to manage conflict.
Able to prioritise workload and delegate.
Desirable
Leadership course (accredited or nationally recognised).
