Job Overview

As a key member of the Pharmacy Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Procurement and Distribution (P&D) team in providing safe, high-quality patient-centered services. This includes managing the storage of medicines, including medical gases, in accordance with the "Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Distributors" and the Trust's Wholesale Distribution Authorization (WDA) for medicines for human use.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, monitor, audit, evaluate, and deliver P&D services across the Trust.
  • Ensure working practices meet medicines legislation and professional, local, and national guidelines.
  • Implement necessary changes to ensure delivery of a comprehensive, high-quality service.
  • Provide professional leadership and management of P&D services for all staff members.
  • Manage regional and national contracts and ensure departmental compliance.
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided and documented for all staff working in the area.
  • Promote excellence within the P&D department and model behaviors of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Represent the Trust at regional and national levels and participate in the wider strategic agenda for pharmacy technicians.
Requirements
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • First-line management training or a management qualification.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician.
Desirable Criteria
  • Pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician assessor course or Workplace Training supervisor.
  • CIPS qualification.
Experience
  • Hospital Pharmacy Experience.
  • Experience in delivering a Procurement and Distribution service.
  • Experience of line managing and following HR policies.
  • Experience of day-to-day supervision and training.

  • To have experience in recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Maintain professional competency and evidence of CPD.
Special Circumstances
  • Able to travel all sites within the Trust and to venues for training.
  • Weekend and Bank holiday working as per rota.
  • Late duties as per rota.
