Hoghton Tower is seeking an experienced Business Manager to lead the delivery and development of our business, ensuring its ongoing commercial success through innovative product development, partnership, and delivering the best visitor experience.
The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of heritage management, including sales and marketing, operations, catering, retail, accommodation, administration, educational and commercial partnerships, contractor management, security, and health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development and marketing plan to drive commercial income and visitor numbers.
- Network regionally and nationally to foster new partnerships and relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Deliver budgeted targets in relation to commercial income and visitor numbers, with a specific focus on three priority areas: weddings, accommodation, and filming targets.

- Operations and Efficiency
- Staff and Contractor Management
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in retail, business, marketing, tourism, or visitor services, especially within the charity sector. They will be adept at growing commercial operations and have a keen interest in history.
The successful candidate will possess excellent budget management skills, including regular monitoring and forecasting, to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the operations. Experience in working with volunteers and community groups will be an advantage.
The Business Manager will be a confident and flexible leader, demonstrating a management style that values open and effective communication with everyone. They will possess excellent planning, report writing, and time-management skills to navigate the complexities of this role.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience of the operational side of a customer-facing business and be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and other software. They will be able to work with data, analyze performance reports, and business KPIs to make sound business decisions and provide updates to the trustees.
