Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
About the Job
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with children who require additional support due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a temporary role with the possibility of extension, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with SEMH needs in both individual and group settings
- Deliver engaging learning activities tailored to each child's needs
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop IEPs
- Encourage positive behavior and provide emotional support
- Build relationships with children, parents, and staff members
- Monitor and report on child progress, making adjustments as necessary
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children
- A good understanding of safeguarding procedures
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
