Speciality Doctor in Geriatrics - Undergraduate Teaching Opportunity

We are seeking a senior clinician to lead teaching for Aston University undergraduate medical students placed with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have significant experience in older people's medicine and a strong background in medical education.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead teaching for undergraduate medical students in geriatric medicine
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for medical students
  • Collaborate with the medical school to ensure a high-quality learning experience
  • Contribute to the development of clinical skills and knowledge in geriatric medicine

We are a small friendly group of consultants and staff grades in geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine. Our community in-patient beds are located at Moseley Hall and West Heath Hospital, and we also provide outpatient services. Medical students are from Aston Medical School.

Person Specification
  • Completion of four years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent from LTFT training), of which two have been in a relevant specialty training for this post (Geriatrics, GP, internal medicine)
  • Medical or Dental Practitioner with specialist registration with the GMC or GDC and a current license to practice
  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development
  • Medical education teaching qualifications e.g. PG Cert in Medical education
  • Detailed understanding of the clinical implications of health and social care policy and related issues
  • Experience of undergraduate teaching understanding barriers for learning in a diverse group
