Our Community Hub
Livingston House is our community hub, located near shops, restaurants, and stations in Teddington. We have trains to Richmond, Kingston, Clapham Junction, or Waterloo. This service will permanently relocate to a new bespoke CAMHS building at Richmond Royal Hospital in Spring 2025.
Job Overview
This is a full-time (12 months fixed-term, Maternity Cover) CAMHS Transitions Worker position in our Richmond Tier 3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The post holder will support families, work alongside teams, and liaise with multi-agencies to ensure wider system collaboration and wrap-around support for young people.
Main Duties of the Job
The CAMHS Transition post aims to support the successful transition of young people aged 17 into appropriate mental health services, enhancing social and mental health outcomes as they grow into adulthood. Key responsibilities include:
- To provide leadership on safeguarding issues for cases in process of transitions.
- Contribute to specialist assessments of young children and their parents/carers referred to the services based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data.
- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility contributing towards assessments, discharge, and transition of young people to adult mental health services.
- Communicate information concerning assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of young children and their parents/carers in a skilled and sensitive manner.
Service Development
The post holder will identify desirable service developments in accordance with the needs of young people and their carers transitioning to adult services. They will contribute to the development, evaluation, and monitoring of transition services operational policies and services.
Teaching, Training, and Supervision
The post holder will receive relevant clinical and managerial supervision from senior nurses and service managers. They will develop skills in teaching, training, and supervision and provide supervision to other MDT staff's psychological work as appropriate. They will also offer training to service users, carers, and colleagues and provide advice, consultation, and training to staff working with the client group across various agencies and settings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Significant post-qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health.
- Experience of working with self-harm and adolescents with mental health difficulties.
- Clinical risk assessment and management of vulnerable client groups.
- Leadership experience.
- Experience of developing services and influencing and managing change processes.
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Providing and receiving supervision.
- Establishing collaborative relationships across professional groups and organisations.
Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this position is £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. However, it is worth noting that salaries may vary based on individual circumstances.
