Category Director

Job Overview
The Category Director - Strategic Growth will be responsible for developing and managing stakeholder relationships with clients directly for the Grocers Category. This role requires a deep understanding of the sector and the ability to craft effective narratives that drive interest and traction with clients across the grocer industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strong relationships with senior client contacts and decision makers within the category
- Work with the Consumer Group Client Director to devise thought-leadership events relevant to our brands
- Set the strategy for the category, achieving targets and overseeing delivery of revenue/profit
- Manage the team to deliver enhanced client service and measure their performance
- Develop a deep understanding of audiences relevant to the category and work with fellow Category Directors to identify synergies
- Proactively lead the creation of major initiatives, ensuring close links with commercial functions, Editorial, Marketing, Communications, and Insight
- Represent the Category within News UK Commercial and the wider business
Requirements
- Extensive leadership sales experience direct to clients
- Key relationships in place in the Grocers sector
- Experience in developing digital-first propositions
- Ability to work at pace and represent multiple brands with different agendas, personalities, and audiences
- Excellence at selling and delivery of ambitious targets
