Director of Quality Assurance and Regulation

About the Role

We are seeking a strong, ambitious, and confident director to take forward the further development of external assurance and regulation of healthcare in Scotland.

The Quality Assurance and Regulation Directorate plays a major role in providing robust, objective, and independent quality assurance of all health services provided in Scotland. It works closely with other statutory bodies, such as the Care Inspectorate, HM Inspector of Prisons, and NHS Education for Scotland.

The post holder will be a member of the Executive Team of Healthcare Improvement Scotland and will play a significant part in ensuring a cohesive approach to improving the quality of health and social care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of external assurance and regulation of healthcare in Scotland
  • Work closely with other statutory bodies to ensure robust quality assurance
  • Provide visible and inspiring leadership to foster positive working relationships
  • Contribute to the Executive Team to ensure a cohesive approach to improving health and social care

Requirements

The post holder will need to have performed successfully at a senior level in demanding strategic and operational environments. They must be able to offer resilience, energy, and high political acumen.
