Job Summary
The Deputy Director Policy Lead will assist the Divisional Director in delivering high-quality services within budget and to an expected level of service and clinical quality. The role involves ensuring best practice governance arrangements and adherence to national policies, local policies, and guidance.
Main Responsibilities
- To assist in implementing the division's strategy, identifying opportunities for growth, improvement, and redesign of services in line with the Trust's objectives.
- To work with the Divisional Management Team to ensure effective performance of the division and accountability for delivering national and local standards, performance indicators, and the Trust's annual business plan.
- To assist in building an effective team to support and strengthen clinical leadership within the directorate.
- To ensure the division has effective arrangements in place for identifying, assessing, reporting, and managing risk, in line with National Standards, Local Action, and Healthcare Commission Standards.

Essential
- Postgraduate Degree or equivalent level.

Knowledge/Experience
Essential
- Experience at a senior level in a complex environment, including a sound understanding of the performance and governance requirements of the NHS.
- Operational experience in an acute environment.
- Significant experience of financial management and rigorous financial management and control to meet agreed targets.
- Experience of leading complex change to achieve continuous improvement.
- Experience of establishing and applying performance management systems in areas like contract monitoring, staff management, and departmental performance indicators.
- Evidenced experience of building and sustaining effective and productive working relationships with a range of people at local and regional level, including statutory, voluntary, and private sector organisations.
- Track record of achievement as a manager demonstrating significant successes through innovation and a strong but sensitive style, contributing directly to the patient experience and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate well-developed negotiation skills coupled with the ability to tackle poor performance effectively.
