About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Large Animal Post-Mortem Technician to join our team at Reed- UNLIMITED. As part of the high disease containment post-mortem team within the Pathology and Animal Sciences Department, you will be responsible for providing support for the ante and post-mortem examination of large animals and poultry, sampling, and humane euthanasia of livestock using appropriate methods.

Your key responsibilities will include assisting with the location/sampling of tissues as required by experimental protocols, safe transfer and submission of samples from the post-mortem room to the relevant laboratory facilities, and following Good Laboratory Practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the ante and post-mortem examination of large animals and poultry
  • Sampling and humane euthanasia of livestock using appropriate methods
  • Assist with the location/sampling of tissues as required by experimental protocols
  • Safe transfer and submission of samples from the post-mortem room to the relevant laboratory facilities

Requirements:

  • Experience in working in a scientific environment
  • Dissection/anatomy skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Motivated and able to use common software applications
  • BTEC HNC/BSc degree or equivalent technical qualifications in biological/biomedical/bioveterinary science

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 per annum
