We are seeking a highly skilled Civil and Structural Engineer to join our team at First Recruitment Group.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of projects, working closely with stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects.
  • Manage engineering support to projects.
  • Review and accept project drawings and documentation.
  • Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors' work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
  • Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning.
  • Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycle.
  • Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments.
  • Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • HNC in Civil Engineering.
  • Basic health and safety training as required for site visits.
  • Knowledge and experience of civil/structural engineering.
  • Experience with the design and assessment of typical industrial steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Experience with the design and assessment of typical maritime structures.
  • Knowledge of current codes and standards including British Standards (e.g. BS 6349), Eurocodes 0, 1, 2, 3 and 8.
  • Knowledge of current UK nuclear regulation and relevant good practice.
  • Theoretical and practical skill and experience across concept design, detailed design and construction stages in heavy industrial and/or maritime civil engineering structures.
  • Experience of working in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), particularly in the design and assessment of safety-related structures, systems and components.
  • Access to, and proficiency in, all software and IT as required to undertake the tasks listed above.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer (MICE and/or MIStructE) status.
