About the Role

Akrivia Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Development Manager to lead our software development team while actively contributing to Python and Rust development projects. This role is a unique combination of technical leadership and hands-on programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of developers to achieve high performance and continuous improvement through regular appraisals and one-to-one meetings.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Assist in hiring, training, and onboarding new team members.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and create development plans for team members.
  • Technical Contribution: Write clean, scalable, and efficient Python code as part of ongoing projects, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with other developers to ensure integration and alignment of all components of the software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • ~5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on Python.
  • ~Proficiency in Python development, including experience with frameworks such as Django or Flask.
  • ~Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, or Kanban.
  • ~Experience with cloud platforms (ideally AWS).
  • ~Strong experience of databases (we use Postgres) including performance tuning/monitoring.
  • ~Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools.
