Job Summary

Peterborough City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Older People Mental Health Service. As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality mental health social work services to adults in the Peterborough City Council area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with community psychiatric nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, psychologists, support workers, and peer support workers to deliver integrated mental health services.
  • Provide support to adults focusing on their strengths and assets, working in a collaborative way with them, their carers, and partner agencies to meet their needs, promote recovery, achieve outcomes, and best value.
  • Apply a social perspective to your work, keeping social care issues current in your practice to promote independence and recovery.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including service users, carers, and partner agencies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service plans, ensuring that they are aligned with the Council's strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a good working knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act (and DOLS).
  • Experience of working in a mental health social work setting, with a focus on older adults.
  • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work.
