Job Title: Transport Team Manager

Wincanton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Team Manager to lead our transport operations team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods and materials across our network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership, direction, and support to the transport team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Transport Operations: Manage the company's fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, repair, and inspection schedules. Coordinate with maintenance providers and suppliers to ensure that vehicles are serviced, repaired, and maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that customer service standards are met or exceeded by the transport team. Handle customer queries, complaints, and escalations in a timely and professional manner, demonstrating a customer-centric approach and a commitment to resolving issues to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing transport operations, including driver hours, vehicle safety inspections. Implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a safe work environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to transport operations, such as OTIF, fuel efficiency, and driver performance. Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management, providing insights, trends, and recommendations for improving transport performance and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven experience in transport management, with a track record of successfully leading teams and driving operational excellence.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop teams to achieve goals and deliver results.
  • Organisational and Analytical Skills: Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
