Rail Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Rail Operator 2. As a key member of our station team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trains and stations.
Main Responsibilities- Provide cover for a variety of shifts as and when required, including working at other local stations when needed.
- Ensure the safety of thousands of customers every day by operating your station professionally.
- Keep customers updated about their journeys through announcements and face-to-face interactions, bringing your own personality to make it a truly personal experience.
- Work with train staff and other colleagues to ensure trains leave your station safely and on time, liaising with station and control colleagues as needed.
- Safely dispatch trains from the platform, ensuring all customers are clear of the train while observing the correct signal.
- As your experience grows, become the font of knowledge about customer journeys, key destinations, attractions, and London transport.
- Be flexible in your approach and not afraid to get stuck in with a variety of tasks, responsible for your station and ensuring it meets quality and safety standards.
- Able to travel to your locations of work within 60 minutes for all shift times.
- Organised and efficient, able to cope with repetitive tasks under pressure.
- A great communicator and able to talk to anyone.
- Passionate about doing the right thing – nothing is too much trouble.
- Competent in the ability to use technology.
- Confidence to make regular live announcements at your station.
- Able to distinguish colours with normal colour vision.
Our customers need us all day, every day (except Christmas day), and as part of the stations team, you'll need to be able to work shifts at all times of the day and on every day of the week.
As this is a GPR position, you could be required to work early, late, or nights on any day of the week at various locations.
On average, you will work 37 hours per week over 5 days, including weekends and night working.
Shift work will involve working at various locations in the region, covering various roles.
Monday-Saturday shifts will be 0630-1430, 1430-2230, and 2230-0630.
Sunday shifts will be 0630-1430, 1030-1830, and 1430-2230.
The RewardThere may be opportunities to work on rest days or do overtime, which could give you the possibility of your overall pay being approximately £30,000 per annum plus regional allowance.
