Rail Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rail Operator 2 to join our team at South Western Railway. As a key member of our station operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient dispatch of trains, as well as providing exceptional customer service to our passengers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide cover for a variety of shifts, including early, late, and night shifts, as well as working at different locations within the region.
- Ensure the safety of thousands of customers every day by maintaining a professional and organized station environment.
- Keep customers informed about their journeys through clear and concise announcements and face-to-face interactions.
- Work collaboratively with train staff and other colleagues to ensure trains depart on time and safely.
- Safely dispatch trains from the platform, ensuring all customers are clear of the train and the correct signals are in place.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer journeys, key destinations, and attractions, as well as London transport options.
- Be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks and responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the station.
- Able to travel to work locations within 60 minutes for all shift times.
- Organized and efficient, with the ability to cope with repetitive tasks under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to talk to customers and colleagues in a clear and concise manner.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Competent in the use of technology, including our station management systems.
- Confident in making regular live announcements at the station.
- Able to distinguish colors with normal color vision.
Our customers need us 24/7, and as part of our station operations team, you will be required to work a variety of shifts, including early, late, and night shifts, as well as working at different locations within the region. On average, you will work 37 hours per week over 5 days, including weekends and night working.
