SEND Teaching Assistant

We are working with a primary school in Sheffield who require a Teaching Assistant to work 1-1 with a suspected SEND pupil in Reception (FS2). The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs such as non-verbal Autism on a 1-1 basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work with the class teacher and other members of support staff to ensure the pupil receives the care required to cater for their unique needs
* Build trusting and meaningful relationships with the pupil and ensure they are engaged in learning and activities
* Assist the pupil using visual aids such as PECs and Makaton
Requirements:
* Recognised teaching assistant qualification such as Level 2, Level 3 or a degree in education or transferable skills
* Team Teach Training preferred, but not essential
* Confident in managing challenging behaviours, defusing situations, and making a calm and positive environment for students to progress in
About the Role:
This is a full-time role starting immediately. We are looking for a committed and passionate teaching assistant who is looking to join a supportive team.
