Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking experienced and knowledgeable SEND Teaching Assistants who specialize in the understanding and management of autism in primary-aged children.

About the Role:
  • Engage with SEN pupils, especially those with autism, in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to provide targeted support and interventions.
  • Assist with lesson planning and preparation to ensure a smooth and effective learning experience.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to children with autism, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead 1:1 or small group sessions, following planning from SENCO, Teacher, or using child's EHCP.
  • Help SEN children engage in a classroom environment on a 1:1 basis, promoting social interaction and inclusion.
  • Assist with locating the wants and needs of children with communication difficulties, using strategies to support their communication.
  • Prepare activities and resources under instruction from a Teacher or SENCO, ensuring they are tailored to meet the child's needs.
  • Maintain effective record keeping, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement.
