About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions for children, young people, and their families, using evidence-based models and approaches.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct neuropsychological assessments, interpreting results and providing feedback to clients, families, and professionals.
  • Provide clinical supervision and caseload management, ensuring the development of specialist skills in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
Person Specification
  • Good honours degree in Psychology (min 2:1)
  • Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC
  • Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent)
  • Training and/or experience in clinical supervision, including the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Post-qualification training or experience in utilising psychological theories and therapies to complex mental health presentations
  • Other specialist further training or experience in psychological therapies with children and young people
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of managing junior psychology staff
  • Substantial experience or training in more than one therapeutic intervention specialty
  • Training and/or substantial experience of psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention with a range of different child and adolescent mental health disorders and presentations
  • Ability to design and implement policy for specialist psychological services and to propose service changes that impact beyond that area of activity
Skills and Abilities
  • Standard keyboard skills and driving licence
  • Skills in the administration of psychometric tests, including accurate timing and manipulation
  • Sound knowledge of software and general IT competence
  • Planning and organising skills, including the ability to prioritise complex tasks and manage competing demands
  • Ability to contain and work with organisational stress
  • Ability to manage continual exposure to distressing and highly emotional clinical material
  • Ability to cope with physical requirements of the job, including sitting for lengthy periods during clinics
  • Ability to operate within irregular working hours and to engage in remote working
