Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Clinical Psychologist specializing in Geriatrics, Band 7/8a based on qualifications and experience.

This role is part of the welcoming and collaborative Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT) located at a healthcare facility on the picturesque Fylde Coast.

The RITT team employs a range of methodologies to assist older adults facing intricate mental health challenges, aiming to minimize hospital admissions whenever feasible. Additionally, a dedicated liaison service for care homes is available to support nursing and residential facilities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and the team manager to enhance a high-quality, community-focused service for older adults. The role includes working alongside another clinical psychologist and assistant psychologists within the same team, as well as engaging with other psychology professionals in the locality.

Key Responsibilities

The positions are integrated with the locality older adult psychology team and broader network, both of which foster a supportive environment with a strong dedication to delivering exceptional services for older adults in the region. About the Organization

A £7,000 Welcome Bonus package is available for this position. This incentive is exclusively for individuals who are not currently employed (or have not been employed in the last year) by any NHS provider trust in the relevant integrated care system in a similar role. Specific eligibility criteria apply, and the bonus is subject to recovery clauses within the first six months of employment. The Welcome Bonus is designed to attract and retain top talent.

We are pleased to offer this position as a preceptorship for suitably qualified candidates, welcoming applications from current trainee clinical psychologists. Progression to Band 8a will depend on the successful completion of an agreed preceptorship skills framework.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, covering models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training, or other applied psychology fields.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Doctoral level understanding of research methodology, research design, and complex data analysis as applied in clinical psychology.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of specialized psychological therapies for challenging groups (e.g., personality disorders, dual diagnoses, individuals with additional disabilities).
  • Familiarity with at least two specialized psychological therapies.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in specialized psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations, addressing a wide range of clinical issues while maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.

Desirable

  • Experience in teaching, training, and/or supervision.
