Job Overview:

Optical Express is a leading provider of laser eye, premium intraocular lens and cataract surgery. We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Assistant to join our team in Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-operative testing, conducting tests prior to examination and treatment, and assisting during the consent appointment process.
  • Patient discharging, instructing patients on post-procedure care, updating medical records, and making follow-up appointments.
  • Laser technician duties, including preparation and calibration of lasers, data understanding, loading and transferring, and safe operation.
  • Coordinating patient flow, ensuring minimal waiting times, and managing queries.
  • Assisting surgeons during consent appointments and treatments, acting as a scrub assistant, taking notes, and instilling eye drops.
  • Undertaking HCA roles in IOL theatres to assist surgical teams and patients during surgery and associated tasks.
  • Participating in end-of-treatment day activities, updating patient files, filing, compiling reports for head office, cleaning the department, stock and lens ordering.
  • Reporting untoward incidents, contributing to patient safety, quality, and risk management.
