About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Secretary to join our team in the Cardiology department at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

As a Medical Secretary, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinicians in delivering excellence in patient care. You will be responsible for transcribing clinical correspondence, adding patients to the waiting list, inputting data, and performing other essential tasks.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to convey clear information to internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.

You will work closely with the team to ensure high-quality secretarial and administrative support, utilizing your initiative and problem-solving skills to assist patients, carers, and staff.

The role is based at Royal Papworth Hospital, with the possibility of working from home 2 days a week once trained. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team that values diversity and welcomes applications from candidates with disabilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transcribe clinical correspondence
  • Add patients to the waiting list
  • Input data into relevant patient systems
  • Communicate with patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Diary management
  • Minute taking and compiling agendas
  • Referral to Treatment (RTT)

Person Specification

  • Keyboard skills to RSA Level 2/3 or equivalent
  • English and Maths (grade 4-9)
  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems
  • Previous experience of working in an office environment
  • Previous experience of audio-typing
