Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Children with Profound Disabilities

**Job Overview:**We are seeking a committed teaching assistant to join our team in Barnsley, working with children who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). As a teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal needs of these students. Your dedication and compassion will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, enabling students to reach their full potential.

**Responsibilities:*** Assist students with daily living tasks, such as hygiene, toileting, and dressing, while maintaining dignity and respect.* Support students with feeding tubes, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.* Safely move and position students, utilizing correct equipment and techniques to prevent injury.* Aid in the delivery of tailored educational activities, collaborating with teachers to create engaging and inclusive lesson plans.* Facilitate effective communication among students, staff, and families, utilizing various methods, including sign language and augmentative communication devices.* Provide emotional and social support to students, promoting a positive and empathetic learning environment.* Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.

**Requirements:*** Experience: Direct or transferable experience working with children with PMLD, preferably in a classroom setting.* Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring nature.* Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are desirable but not essential.

**Salary Estimate:** The estimated salary for this role is between £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
