We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work with children who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in Barnsley. This is a full-time role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with personal care, including hygiene, toileting, and dressing, ensuring the child's physical needs are met.
  • Support children with feeding tubes, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Safely assist with the physical movement of children, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Aid in the delivery of tailored educational activities and support the teacher in managing the classroom environment.
  • Facilitate effective communication using various methods, including sign language, communication boards, and other assistive technologies.
  • Provide emotional and social support to children, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Direct or transferable experience working with children with PMLD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring nature.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are desirable but not essential.

Salary: €28,500 per year

This role provides a supportive and collaborative working environment, allowing you to grow and develop your skills while making a difference in the lives of children with PMLD.
